Ambururu Waterfall is located in Siaya County, Kenya, within the scenic Yala Valley. The conservancy is approximately 40 km from Kisumu and 20 km from Siaya town, accessible via well-maintained roads.

The conservancy is open daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We recommend arriving early to enjoy the full trail experience and cooler morning temperatures.

Entrance fees support conservation and community programs:

  • Kenyan Citizens: KSh 150 (adults), KSh 100 (children)

Payment is accepted in cash or mobile money (M-Pesa).

Yes! We offer guided nature walks led by local guides who share stories of the land, wildlife, and cultural heritage. Tours last 1.5–2 hours and you can View the waterfall in close range (group rates available).

Yes. We have eco-friendly lodges and campsites powered by solar energy. Options include:

  • Private cottages with en-suite bathrooms
  • Designated camping areas with fire pits

The main trail to the waterfall is moderate difficulty with some steep sections and steps. It takes about 45 minutes round trip. We recommend:

  • Sturdy shoes with good grip
  • Walking sticks for seniors (available on request)
  • Children under 10 should be supervised

A shorter viewing platform is accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Pack light but smart:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Water bottle (refill stations available)
  • Camera or phone (great photo spots!)

Food is not allowed on trails to protect wildlife, but we have a picnic area near the entrance.

Swimming is not permitted in the main waterfall pool to protect the ecosystem and ensure visitor safety. However, a designated safe swimming area is available downstream with lifeguards during peak hours.

Every visit makes a difference:

  • 70% of entrance fees fund tree planting and water monitoring
  • Jobs for 200+ locals as guides, cooks, and rangers
  • Preservation of Luo cultural heritage

Take a matatu from Kisumu to Siaya, then a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to the conservancy gate (about KSh 300)
